Work tasks

The internship can be done in a company, research institute, agency or community. The jobs approved for the internship should be an in-depth internship, so standard office tasks (such as word processing, using spreadsheet software, or updating web pages) are not enough. The goal of the in-depth internship is to provide an overview of the field in which the intern will work after graduating. The suitability of work assignments for in-depth training in information technology must always be verified in advance.

Duration of work and credits

Credits depend on the duration of the work according to the table below. Only full working days (if working full-time) or hours worked (if working part-time) are included in the duration of work, not, for example, weekends or other periods of leave.

Reporting

At the end of the internship, a free-form report will be written about it. The instruction length of the report is 5 pages. What is important in reporting is not so much what has been done during the internship, but what has been learned. In addition, the purpose of preparing an internship report is to acquaint the trainee with the company's organization as a whole, to analyze their knowledge and skills in working life and possible shortcomings / areas for development, and to take a position on career development opportunities in the target company.

The content of the report (focus more on the bolded sections in the report):

  • A brief overview of the development of the company since its inception
  • the administrative organization of the company
  • The tasks performed by the trainee. Note: This section is not the main focus of the report, so it should not be described in too much detail. Also, there is no need to disclose any trade secrets.
  • Working conditions
  • your own knowledge and skills for the job What skills were useful? What are your strengths? What skills would have been needed more? What kind of development needs do you have? Which completed studies/courses were useful in your work tasks? Is anything essential missing from the courses offered by the faculty?
  • assessment of your own learning What did you know before the internship? What did you learned during the internship? How have your communication or teamwork skills developed? How have your ways of working (eg systematic or diligent) changed? Will completing the internship influence your study habits in the future?
  • Career development opportunities in the target company. What kind of career development opportunities do the company have? What knowledge and skills development requirements do they require?

In addition, a copy of the employment certificate signed by the employer is attached to the report. If the work has been part-time, also submit a certificate of hours provided by the employer.
